Every metric name opens its definition; the full list lives in Metrics.
Every section reads one season sample per situation. Five-on-five is official five-on-five strength; power play and penalty kill include 5v3, 4v3 and 6v4, and plain 6v5 is Other. Other is all situations minus the three, so situation rows sum. Power play and penalty kill are read from this team’s side, so shots against on the power play are the opponent’s shorthanded chances.
The situation filter (all situations or five-on-five) sets Season metrics, Season vs reference, On-ice rates and the Defense suppression rows, and opens the shot map on the same choice; the shot map’s own Situation select adds power play and penalty kill. The header, the percentile radar, Results, goaltending, discipline, Special teams, Form, Roster, Game log and Seasons keep the scope their own labels state.
Team ice time is the elapsed team clock from shift charts. Per-60 rates use only games with a complete clock and appear when at least 90% of games have one. Power-play opportunities, times shorthanded, penalty minutes, hits, blocks, giveaways, takeaways and faceoffs are official team box counts from the NHL game summary; official PP% and PK% use them.
Goals and saves above expected exclude empty-net goals. Shot-type shooting percentage is goals divided by shots on goal. High danger in ranked rows is model scoring probability of at least 0.20; the shot-map tier filter uses the player page’s location tiers. PDO is ranked high to low but is context, not a quality grade.
One-goal games include overtime and shootout decisions, and scoring first uses the first non-shootout goal. Shot callouts exclude shots on an empty net; attempts are unblocked, because blocked shots carry no location. Blocks and hits describe volume and time defending, so they are ranked but colored as context. Penalties count minor, major, bench and match events; misconducts and penalty shots are excluded.
Special-teams rates, shorthanded goals and net goals use the widened scopes above, which can differ from the official counts by a goal or two over a season. In Season vs reference, a change is colored by whether it helps the team, and Points % appears only in all situations. Season metrics leaves out the rows the Defense table shows and, in all situations, the rows the header shows.
An em dash means unavailable, not zero. A partial season remains partial. Percentiles and ranks need at least 20 teams.
